Registration Fees & Pack Dues

Joining and participating in Pack 24 involves two separate payments:

Part One — Paid directly to Scouting America at registration (and annually thereafter on your registration anniversary)

• National Registration fee: $85 (waived for children of active-duty military — see below)

• San Diego-Imperial Council fee: $85

• Optional Scout Life magazine subscription: $15

Part Two — Paid directly to Pack 24

• Annual Pack 24 Dues: $125

Pack dues cover the cost of awards needed to earn the annual rank badge, plus pack overhead (equipment storage, meeting supplies, printing, and leader training).

Additional Activity Costs

Because not every family participates in every activity, these are billed separately rather than folded into annual dues:

• Pinewood Derby — No entry fee. (Cost of a car kit, if purchased, is separate — see Scout Shop link below.)

• Camp-outs — Cost varies by destination. For example, our Lake Morena trip includes county fishing fees for anyone who wants to fish:

  • Adults (16+): $8.00/day

  • Juniors (10–15): $5.00/day

  • Children (9 and under): Free

  • Seniors (62+) and disabled: $5.00/day

• Blue & Gold Banquet — No fee; it's a potluck. Families are asked to bring a dish, drinks, and utensils to share.

Uniforms and handbooks are not included in dues and must be purchased separately, either online or at the Scout Shop at BSA headquarters in Balboa Park.

Military Families

Scouting America offers a Military Family Fee Waiver for children of active-duty, Reserve, or National Guard parents/guardians, covering the $85 national registration fee. During online registration, look for "Get Military Discount Code" to get a verification code to enter at checkout. Council fees and pack dues are not covered by this waiver.

Fundraising

Pack 24 holds an annual luminaria fundraiser each December to help offset the cost of dues and activities for families. Watch the News page and pack emails for signup details.
